EXTEND YOUR STAY IN HELSINKI PRE-TOUR

March 23 / Day 1: We will welcome our group at Ivalo Airport and transfer our group to the Wilderness Hotel Juutua which is approximately a 45-minute journey. We will enjoy a welcome group dinner and settle into our accommodation. Depending on our arrival time, cold weather gear is given to you either upon arrival or the next day

We will take group meals together and enjoy our private activities of Snowmobiling - Ice-Fishing With Snowmobile Sleigh - Winter Walk To Jäniskoski - Aurora Camp & Aurora Snowshoeing and we have shared activities of meeting the Reindeers and a Husky Safari

Overnight in a wilderness room at Juutua incl. full board and winter clothing (overalls, boots, socks & gloves)

The following activities are included during your stay, you will receive a schedule upon check-in.

SNOWMOBILE ADVENTURE (private)

This day is all about the local winter fun – snowmobiling in the wilderness! Our guide will teach us how to cope with these powerful machines, and after a full safety and driving lesson we will head out to the wilderness. Snowmobiling through white winter scenery is a breathtaking experience that will last for a lifetime. During the day, there will be a tasty outdoor lunch by the open fire.

*Driver of the snowmobile must have a valid driver’s license. Self-liability fee (own risk) is 1000 €/snowmobile in case of an accident.

**Snowmobile safaris are based on 2 persons sharing one snowmobile.

MEET THE REINDEER - We will meet a local reindeer herder with his peaceful reindeer is one of the top memories for all visitors. At the reindeer farm we will learn interesting information about the reindeer and the life of a reindeer herder. This guided trip will be done by car.

HUSKY SAFARI - A Husky safari is a ‘must do’ experience when visiting Lapland. We will be taught how to handle the sled before we head out for the husky safari, where the huskies will pull our sleds through the beautiful winter scenery. Enjoy the excitement of the dogs before the start, and the serene silence once they get to do what they love – running in the snowy scenery. The musher will also show us around the husky farm during our visit. All our husky safaris are based on two people sharing a sled unless otherwise stated.

ICE FISHING TRIP (private) - Ice fishing is done in the traditional Finnish way. We will spend the day finding out how fishing is done during winter. We will have a nice snowmobile sleigh ride to the best ice fishing spots. Our guide will teach us how to make some holes through the ice, and then we try and see who the best fisher is. Day includes a tasty lunch by open fire.

WINTER WALK TO JANISKOSKI RAPIDS (private) - We will head to beautiful Jänisköski rapid which is one of the 10 rapids at Juutua river and the biggest one of them. There is about 1km walk to the camp spot and this trip is suitable for everyone. During this trip we will learn about the river Juutua which is important part of Inari Sámi Culture and other interesting facts about the locals and they locals' way of living. We will enjoy warm drinks and grill together sausages at nice camp spot while listening the sound of running water.

AURORA CAMP (private) - This trip takes us to one of our specifically chosen camp spots, where we will try to catch the northern lights. We will be comfortably seated in a sledge, pulled by a guide’s snowmobile. We will have an open fire and warm drinks while waiting for the sky to show its magic. 

AURORA SNOWSHOEING (private) - Experience the amazing atmosphere of old forests on this relaxing snowshoe walk to the aurora camp spot. Walking in the dark forests accompanied by the light of the moon and dance of the northern lights is unforgettable. We weill warm up by the campfire and wait for the auroras to show up, while warm drinks are prepared on the open fire.

SAUNA EXPERIENCE WITH JACUZZI (private) - In Koski (Finnish word for rapids), the sauna is heated by a Finnish electric sauna stove. In addition to the sauna, there is a dressing room, bathroom and showers. From the sauna we will find an entrance to the terrace, where we can enjoy the warmth of our own jacuzzi overlooking the rapids of Juutua river. Drinks and Snacks can be ordered to the sauna in advance.

FIVE COURSE DINNER IN RESTAURANT AANAAR (one evening) We will enjoy a tasteful five course menu in the Aanaar restaurant. Taste Lapland’s seasons with a view to the rapids of River Juutua.

March 29th / Day 7: After breakfast we will be transferred back to Ivalo airport for our flights home
